Amelia Park is a Traditional Neighborhood.
It is based on urban design principles that include walkable neighborhoods, public gathering spaces, mixed housing, sustainability, native plants and ecology, and quality of life. Our neighborhood was designed by Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, co-founders of the Congress for the New Urbanism, an effort recognized by The New York Times as “the most important collective architectural movement in the United States in the past fifty years.” Their firm, DPZ, is most known for the development of Seaside, the TND on the Gulf Coast of Florida and Celebration near Orlando. Joel Embry, a local developer, retained DPZ to help plan Amelia Park, located on Florida's , one of the Sea Islands on the Atlantic coast. If you’re looking to live in Amelia Park, we encourage you to learn more about New Urbanism and Traditional Neighborhood Developments. The principles have made a difference in creating a special sense of place.
